The institutional tension in Banfield added a new episode. Pedro Troglio met on Wednesday with members of the Board of Directors at the Luis Guillón Sports Field and, amid the conflict the club is experiencing, submitted his resignation as coach.
However, the leadership headed by president Matías Mariotto decided not to accept his departure. Thus, Troglio will continue, at least for the moment, coaching the professional team of “Taladro”.
Troglio and the difficulties of Banfield during the season
The situation arises in a complex context for the institution, which has been facing various criticisms related to its management. Troglio himself had publicly outlined some of the obstacles he had to face since his arrival.
Among the main difficulties was an inhibition that was only lifted two matches ago, in addition to the inability to start the season with all players available for a complete preparation.

After the draw between Banfield and Barracas Central last Monday, the coach referred to that scenario and defended the work done by his team: “We were inhibited and it was only lifted two matches ago. We are the only team that did not have a full preseason with the complete squad. Even so, we are in the semifinals of the Copa Argentina. We are trying to compete with what we have, making a huge effort. But sometimes it’s easier to criticize.”
