Platense's president was harsh toward the Orsi-Gómez duo for their resignation
The Calamar president did not hide his surprise at the departure of the coaches and is already evaluating candidates to succeed them
Last Sunday, June 1, was indelibly marked in the history of Platense, as the club achieved its first championship in its more than 120 years of existence. The coaching duo made up of Favio Orsi and Sergio Gómez was key to the achievement, although, surprisingly, both coaches decided to step aside days after the title win.
After their departure became known, the person who publicly expressed his bewilderment was Platense's president, Sebastián Ordóñez, in a conversation with Radio La Red: "I still don't know what happened with Orsi and Gómez, I'm still surprised. We always had a good relationship. We're working to move forward, because on Monday we have to train, face a tournament, and the Copa Argentina".

"We achieved the goal together, from the first to the last, there's no anger or anything, but I'm sad because it's not what I wanted. For me, they'll always be the coaches who led Platense to the championship. The duo are people loved by the club, but it's time to look ahead. I gave them 12 hours to think about it", he concluded.
Is Palermo coming back?
One of the names being strongly considered to fill the vacancy left by the duo is Martín Palermo. The Titan coached Platense throughout 2023and led the team to the final of the Copa de la Liga, where they lost to Rosario Central. Ordóñez didn't rule out the possibility of his return: "I'm thinking about a lot of things. He's a friend. We're getting a lot of names. From the moment the news broke, you can imagine my phone exploded. Today Platense is the champion team, an organized institution. There are plenty of options. We're going to sit down with the board to think about what's best".

Other candidates on the radar
In addition to Palermo, there are two other names under consideration by Calamar's management. One is Kily González, who recently left his position at Unión de Santa Fe. The other is Jorge De Olivera, former Platense goalkeeper between 2017 and 2021, highly regarded by the fans and someone who knows the club from the inside.

Meanwhile, Platense is preparing to face the Torneo Clausura and the Copa Argentina with the goal of maintaining its strong sporting momentum and continuing to write new golden pages in its history.
