After achieving success with Platense, the Orsi-Gómez duo decided to step aside.
The coaches who led Calamar to its first championship submitted their resignations just ten days after making history at the club
Ten days after being crowned champions in the Torneo Apertura and achieving Platense's first top division title in history, the coaching duo made up of Favio Orsi and Sergio Gómez submitted their resignation and left their positions as coaches of the Vicente López team.
According to the club, the main reason for their departure was the emotional void after having achieved the goal of winning the Copa de la Liga in the first half of 2025. Both coaches chose not to continue with the project for the remainder of the year.

Orsi and Gómez had arrived at Platense in February 2024 after their stint at Atlético Tucumán. During their time in charge of Calamar, they managed 57 matches, with a record of 25 wins, 17 draws, and 15 losses. However, their greatest achievement was undoubtedly ending a 120-year wait by securing the top division title.
So far, no other reasons have emerged beyond the void the duo admitted to feeling after the achievement. There was no active release clause at Platense and their contract ran until December. Now, the newly crowned champion of Argentine football will focus on finding a new coaching staff to face the second half of the season.
An interesting fact is that this is the second consecutive championship to be left without its head coach after being crowned: in the previous Liga Profesional, Gustavo Quinteros also left Vélez after the title. This time, Orsi and Gómez say goodbye to Calamar, leaving behind an indelible milestone.

Meanwhile, the resignation took both the management and the squad by surprise. No one at Calamar expected the announcement of their departure, and the desire was to continue counting on the duo to face the Clausura. Now, once the initial impact passes, the search for a replacement will begin.
