Deck guide: how to dominate with Buzzwole ex in Pokémon TCG Pocket Dimensional Crisis

The Crisis Dimensional expansion of the Pokémon Pocket Trading Card Game introduced the fearsome Ultra Beasts, and one of the most imposing is Buzzwole ex, a Basic Grass-type Pokémon ex with the power to sweep the field.

In this guide, we show you how to boost its performance with the strategic support of Pheromosa and Kartana, and dominate any match in the "four points" format.

Key components of the deck

The strategy revolves around these main strikers:

  • 2 Buzzwole ex (Crisis Dimensional)
  • 2 Pheromosa (Crisis Dimensional)
  • 1 Kartana (Crisis Dimensional)

The deck is completed by several support cards such as Samina, Erika, Helio, and tools like Leaf Cape or Entita, which enhance Buzzwole's offense and defense at decisive moments.

How to start the match: Pheromosa and Kartana on the attack

The ideal plan begins with Pheromosa and its Jump Blues attack, which for just 1 Grass Energy deals 20 damage to the Active Pokémon and one on the Bench. This allows you to set up multiple future KOs for Buzzwole ex. The distributed damage makes it easier to use Helio, who can move a damaged Pokémon to the Active Spot and enable an immediate knockout.

Kartana also contributes in the early turns with Thrash Metal (40 damage for 1 Grass Energy). Although its impact is not as strategic as Pheromosa's, it can provide constant pressure to keep your opponent in check.

Once the field has been opened up with the initial strikers, it's Buzzwole ex's turn. Its Big Beat attack deals 120 damage in exchange for 3 Energies (Grass, Grass, Colorless), enough to take down almost any opponent. To power it up quickly, Samina comes into play:  if your opponent has already earned at least 1 point, this Supporter lets you attach 2 Energies from the discard pile to one of your Ultra Beasts.

By combining Samina with the turn's Energy, Buzzwole can be ready to attack in a single turn, making this strategy a difficult threat to stop.

Protection and consistency

To prevent Buzzwole ex from falling too soon, the Leaf Cape card protects it by reducing the damage received. In addition, Erika lets you draw extra cards to keep your hand flowing, while Entita increases offensive power once you've scored at least one point.

Don't forget to include another Basic Pokémon to avoid starting with Buzzwole in the Active Spot, since its high Retreat Cost can work against you in the early turns.
