A police officer killed one of the criminals who attempted to rob him in Flores.

A City Police officer was involved in a shootout with two criminals who attempted to rob him on Friday night in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Flores. As a result of the confrontation, one of the thieves died after being shot.

The incident took place around 10 p.m. on the 300 block of Carabobo, where the officer, who was off-duty and in plain clothes, was riding his motorcycle.

At that moment, two armed criminals intercepted him with intentions of robbery. The police officer defended himself by drawing his service weapon and firing at least two shots. The sound of the gunfire caused the strikers to flee quickly, but during the escape, one of them was hit by a bullet and fell dead.

SAME personnel and the Homicide Division quickly arrived at the scene, and after consulting with Criminal and Correctional Court No. 34, they ordered the seizure of the weapons involved. The Mobile Forensic Unit of the Argentine Federal Police was also called in to carry out the necessary procedures.

As a result, a Bersa Thunder pistol with a full magazine—ten bullets plus one in the chamber—was seized, along with a .45 caliber firearm with the inscription "Argentine Army," found on the public road, with no ammunition in the magazine and five spent shells at the scene.

The police officer's motorcycle, which was not damaged, was taken to the judicial impound lot of Commune 7C for safekeeping. Once the forensic tasks were completed, the body of the deceased criminal was removed by specialized personnel.

Other cases

So far this year, several security incidents with similar characteristics to the one in Flores have been recorded. One of them took place in mid-January, when a Buenos Aires Police officer shot a criminal who attempted to steal his motorcycle in the town of González Catán, La Matanza district. In the same incident, a 15-year-old thief, an accomplice in the robbery, was also injured when he had an accident during the escape.

The officer was off-duty and in plain clothes at the time of the attack. He was intercepted at the intersection of Vilela and Leopardi streets in the Villa Dorrego neighborhood. When threatened with a firearm, he reacted by shooting with his service pistol. One of the shots hit the criminal in the neck, killing him instantly. The entire sequence was captured by a security camera.

Meanwhile, the underage thief attempted to escape but fell off the motorcycle and injured his leg. It was later revealed that he had four criminal records for robbery and concealment, committed between 2022 and 2024.

Another incident occurred in the early hours of February 7, when a commissioner from the same police force killed one of two armed assailants who attempted to steal his vehicle in the town of Gregorio de Laferrere. The incident was recorded at the corner of Víctor Martínez and Martín Zapata, while the officer was returning home after completing his workday.

The confrontation ended with the death of a 19-year-old criminal, identified as Catriel Gabriel Villalba, after being shot in the left flank.
