A pork company will invest 15 million dollars in a farm in Córdoba

The Santa Fe-based company BLD will invest 15 million dollars to expand a pig farm in Córdoba.

The company's objective, located in Noetinger, in the Unión department, is to increase from 5,800 sows to a herd of 8,500.

BLD reported that this  investment is the result of the achievements reached over the past 5 years, driven by the company and its shareholders, associated producers, and clients.

The expansion of the pig business in Córdoba was discussed during the last BLD+ Annual Meeting held in La Palestina.

Although the initial plan was to grow from 5,800 to 7,000 sows, the enthusiasm caused among shareholders by the prospects opening up for pork production resulted in an increase of the target to 8,500 sows.

Greater productivity

The leap requires not only more space but also an increase in productivity.

This is why work has already begun to build new barns and adapt the existing facilities.

This includes five additional finishing barns from associated producers in Santa Fe, Córdoba, and Entre Ríos, reaching a total of 20.

The project will allow production to increase by more than 50% due to the higher number of sows and the productive improvement it entails.

The financing for this project, valued at U$S 15 million, comes from a loan granted by Bancor, the growth of producers associated with the system, and the company's own funds.

The associative production system has enabled the expansion of the farm and allowed clients and shareholders to be active participants in this business, BLD acknowledged.

With the expansion of the facilities, jobs will increase by 35%. Currently, more than 120 people from nearby towns are directly employed at the farm.
