The future of Julián Álvarez continues to be one of the major topics of the European transfer market. After his decisive goal in the 3-1 victory of the Argentine National Team over Switzerland in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup, the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, once again referred to the Catalan club's interest in the forward and sent a direct message to Atlético de Madrid.
Upon his arrival in Dallas ahead of the semifinal between Spain and France, the top Blaugrana official confirmed that the offer for the attacker is still on the table, although he made it clear that he will not wait indefinitely for a response. "We are not going to be dancing to anyone's tune. Here, we set the rhythm. We have made an offer, but it is not an infinite offer. We will see how long it remains valid," he stated.
Laporta explained that the proposal was made because Julián is the club's main sporting objective to strengthen Hansi Flick's attack. "We have already expressed our intention to sign the player that the coach and the technical management have requested. We really like Julián, and I think he is a fantastic player," he maintained.
The official also sought to ease the tension that has arisen between both institutions in recent weeks. He explained that the conflict arose from a misunderstanding regarding the financial proposal and assured that he had discussed the matter with Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, one of the main executives of Atlético.
"I understand that we have a very good relationship with them. There was a confusion regarding the offer we made, and I clarified it. We have not pressured any further," he pointed out. And regarding the state of negotiations, he added: "I only said that, from the moment they have an alternative, this offer was valid. And it stayed there. It has not evolved beyond that, for now."

The statements come in a context of increasing competition for the world champion. In recent days, it has emerged that Arsenal has intensified efforts to try to sign him, while Atlético de Madrid continues to show no intention of letting go of the forward.
For his part, Julián Álvarez remains focused on the World Cup with the Argentine National Team and has avoided speaking again about his future. However, each of his performances fuels a market that has the Córdoba native as one of the most sought-after names in European football.
