'Prince of Persia': Ubisoft reveals when the highly anticipated remake of the classic is coming out
The remake of 'The Sands of Time' is coming out between January and March 2026, with graphical and gameplay improvements
Ubisoft shortened the wait for the return of the classic Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with a new estimated date. The company announced that the remake will be released between January and March 2026, within the current fiscal year.
The news comes after several changes in the development of the project, which was restarted in 2023 following strong criticism of its first trailer. Now, the game promises a completely renewed experience.

When is the Prince of Persia remake being released?
During the latest financial results presentation, Ubisoft confirmed that the remake of The Sands of Time will be released before April 2026. This narrows the release window to the first quarter of next year.
Originally, a release was estimated at some point in 2026, but the company moved its plans forward. The title joins other releases like Anno 117: Pax Romana, Rainbow Six Mobile, and The Division Resurgence.
A total reboot after the initial failure
The game was first announced in 2020 as a modern update of the 2003 classic. However, the public's rejection of the first trailer led Ubisoft to completely restart development in 2023.

Since then, the studio has redone the graphics, combat mechanics, parkour, and story. There were also new motion capture sessions, and the original actor was replaced by one of Persian origin.
A legacy that marked an entire generation
The release of The Sands of Time in 2003 marked the return of the franchise and paved the way for new installments like Warrior Within and The Two Thrones. With this remake, Ubisoft aims to recapture that essence.

The renewed gameplay and technical changes aim to offer an experience more faithful to the original spirit, but with current quality standards.
Ubisoft seeks to ensure quality in all its releases
Besides the remake, the company highlighted its focus on polishing each title before releasing it to the market. Cases like Assassin's Creed Shadows—which changed its release date several times—reflect this strategy.
Ubisoft wants to avoid past mistakes and ensure that its upcoming releases meet the expectations of both critics and the gaming public.
