The national Government took a key step in the privatization of the Waterway, confirming that the bidding process entered its final stage after the technical evaluation of the bids.

The National Agency for Ports and Navigation (ANPYN) announced that the companies Jan de Nul and DEME have passed this instance and will move on to the economic phase, where the award will be defined.

A strategic tender for foreign trade The

Trunk Waterway (VNT) is a critical infrastructure: It

  • channels about 80% of Argentine exports

  • . It
  • is key to agriculture, industry and energy. It directly impacts the country's logistics costs. In this context, the

  • modernization of

the system is seen as a centerpiece of the economic model of the government of Javier Milei, aimed at improving

competitiveness and efficiency.

Technical evaluation and finalist companies

During the second stage of the process, the work plans and technical backgrounds of the bidders were analyzed

.

Results:

  • Jan de Nul: 66.2 DEME points

  • : 42.14 points

Both companies met the requirements and were qualified for the final definition.

The analysis included key aspects such as:

  • Dredging and maintenance

  • Signaling and traffic control

  • Environmental protocols

  • Cybersecurity

  • Operational capacity

The decisive stage: the economic supply

The process is now entering its most important phase: economic evaluation

.

This instance represents:

  • 60% of the total score

  • Up to 120 points at stake

  • The final definition of the successful bidder

If there are no challenges in the next seven days, the Government will move forward with the opening

of Envelope No. 3.

Private sector support

One of the highlights of the process is the support of key players in the economy.

Among the entities that accompanied the progress are:

  • Unión Industrial Argentina

  • Sociedad Rural Argentina

  • Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario

  • Chamber of Private Ports

  • CIARA

The consensus revolves around two axes: transparency and the need for modernization

.

A paradigm shift in management The

tender seeks to leave behind years of inefficiency in the administration of the Waterway

.

The Government's objective is clear:

  • Reduce logistics costs

  • Increase export competitiveness Improve

  • infrastructure without direct state intervention

.

In line with the deregulation approach, the initiative aims to have the private sector manage one of the most important economic arteries

in the country.

Expected impact on the economy

The modernization of the Waterway could generate:

  • Lower transport costs for producers

  • Higher efficiency in exports

  • Increase in logistics investments

  • Better international positioning

This is one of the most important structural reforms in terms

of infrastructure.

A process that is entering its final phase

.

With the technical phase already completed, the economic definition will mark the closing of a tender that could change the

functioning of Argentine foreign trade.

The Government is committed to ensuring that competition between companies and the opening of the system will generate a leap in quality.

The Waterway, the central axis of the export model, is thus heading towards a new phase under private management.
