On an afternoon filled with tension and resilience, Los Pumas closed their visit to Edinburgh with a memorable victory over Scotland in the penultimate match of 2025 on matchday 3 of the Nations Series. Felipe Contepomi's team faced one of the most solid sides in Europe at the always imposing Murrayfield and had to overcome a tough start.
Just five minutes in, Juan Cruz Mallía was shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock-on, a situation that left the Argentine team outnumbered. The hosts did not waste the opportunity: Jack Dempsey scored the first try and Finn Russell converted to make it 7-0. Once it was back to 15 against 15, Argentina tried to respond, but Mallía missed a long-range penalty in the 23rd minute. Worse still, in the 27th minute, Ewan Ashman broke through the Argentine try line again, and Russell extended the lead to 14-0.

The second half began just as hostile. Once again, Ashman scored for Scotland and the gap seemed definitive. However, in the 9th minute, the sin-binning of Blair Kinghorn opened a window of hope. That was when Argentine leadership emerged: Julián Montoya closed the gap with a try, and Santiago Carreras added the conversion to make it 21-7. Moments later, Rodrigo Isgró broke through the opposing defense and reduced the score to 21-12.
