A coordinated police operation between the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Anti-Narcotics Police Force resulted in a significant marijuana seizure in Río Cuarto. The raids were carried out following an investigation launched after an attempt to smuggle narcotics into the local prison. According to judicial sources, the operation dismantled a network operating in various neighborhoods of the city.
The operations were conducted in two residences located in the residential areas of Alberdi and Fénix, where agents seized the drugs. In the homes, 887 doses of marijuana were found, three cannabis sativa plants, and a sum of cash. Items that would be used for the sale and distribution of the drug were also seized.
The investigation established links between those arrested over the weekend and the raided locations. The young men detained there, aged 23 and 24, had been intercepted while attempting to throw packages containing drugs into the prison. The attempt was thwarted by police officers conducting perimeter control duties at the penitentiary facility.

Supervised procedures and seized material
Investigators maintain that the raided residences served as storage and distribution points for marijuana in the southern part of the city. The seized material was transported under custody to the judicial laboratory for analysis and final quantification. In addition, a motorcycle and cell phones were seized, which could provide information about the distribution network.
The Narcotics Prosecutor's Office of Río Cuarto supervised the actions and ordered the delivery of all material to the judicial headquarters. The proceedings took place within the framework of National Narcotics Law No. 23,737, which establishes penalties for the production and trafficking of drugs. The prosecutor's office reported that investigations are ongoing to determine the possible involvement of other individuals.
The operation is part of a series of joint actions aimed at strengthening control in areas linked to penitentiary units. Authorities state that the objective is to prevent the entry of illegal substances and halt the advance of networks dedicated to urban drug trafficking. Further judicial measures or expansions of the case in the coming days are not ruled out.
