Just weeks before the premiere of a new season of MasterChef Celebrity on Telefe, an unexpected internal conflict between Maxi López and Wanda Nara disrupted the channel's plans. The former footballer, who had already been announced as one of the confirmed participants, might step aside before the debut, and the reason has a first and last name: money.
According to journalist Daniel Fava on the show A la Tarde (América TV), López would have agreed to join the cooking competition motivated by a concrete proposal presented by his ex-wife, who is also the host of the show. However, the agreement would not have been fulfilled under the promised financial terms, which led to a conflict that now casts doubt on his presence in the reality show.
According to Fava's account, Wanda would have guaranteed Maxi a specific amount for participating in the program. "I give you my word, they'll deliver, confirm your participation because I'm going to get you what you were promised", the media personality would have told the former footballer, trying to convince him to accept the contract.

However, that promise quickly faded. Apparently, Telefe refused to pay the requested amount, and that caused discontent for López, who was expecting financial compensation higher than the standard for the show's celebrities. In that scenario, Wanda would have tried to calm things down and find an alternative solution: covering the difference herself through a sponsor.
"She promised, but didn't deliver. The money hasn't appeared", Fava stated. According to his version, Maxi López not only felt betrayed, but he would be willing to withdraw from the program even before the start of filming. Although production is already moving forward with the show's preparations and the cast is in full training, López's continued participation remains uncertain.
