Renault launches a new pickup made in Argentina to compete with Fiat Toro

Renault will manufacture a new pickup truck in Argentina that will aim to compete with the Fiat Toro. It will arrive on the market in 2026

Renault confirmed the development of a new pick-up that will be manufactured at the Santa Isabel, Córdoba plant. It will be a model designed for the local and regional market, aiming to compete directly against the Fiat Toro.

The launch is scheduled for 2026, although details about its range and prices have not been revealed yet. It will be based on the Niagara Concept, a prototype that anticipates a robust design and modern mechanics.

What will the new Renault pick-up be like?

Although the official name of the model has not been confirmed, it could retain the Niagara name or adopt a completely new one. It will be positioned above the Duster Oroch and below the Renault Alaskan, entering the mid-size pick-up segment.

It will compete against models like the Fiat Toro, Ford Maverick, and the Ram Rampage. It is expected to offer a combination of robustness, technology, and fuel efficiency.

Platform and engine: what is known so far

It will be the first vehicle produced in Argentina on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGM), a flexible architecture that allows for various configurations:

  • Adjustable dimensions: length between 4 and 5 meters (13 and 16 feet) and wheelbase up to 3 meters (10 feet).
  • Mechanical options:internal combustion engines, flexfuel (E85), LPG, and hybrids (mild hybrid and full hybrid).
  • Front-wheel drive or 4x4: depending on the version.

Renault will not be alone in this project. As with the Frontier and the Alaskan, Nissan will launch its own version based on this model, with some differences.

This is part of the collaboration agreement between both brands, which allows for platform sharing and production cost optimization.
