This Tuesday, Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey announced his retirement from professional football at 35, ending a career of almost two decades in the European elite and marked both by his sporting achievements and by a curious legend that accompanied him for years.
The decision was communicated through his social networks, where he said: "This was not a very easy decision to make”, in a message in which he also thanked his family, the clubs he played for and the Welsh National Team, with which he played 86 games and scored 21 goals.
The “Death Curse”
One of the things Ramsey will be remembered for is his famous “curse”. This theory went viral in 2011 when, after one of his goals, Osama bin Laden died. Over time, similar coincidences were repeated with figures such as: Steve Jobs, Muammar Gaddafi, Whitney Houston, Paul Walker and David Bowie, among others. Although it was always a matter of coincidences, the phenomenon went viral and transcended
the sports field.
As a matter of color, Ramsey announced his retirement at the same time that Donald Trump announced that “tonight an entire civilization will die, never to return”, in reference to the measures that the United States will take to Iran when the deadline for the Strait of Hormuz to reopen is reached. This last coincidence could be the dessert strawberry of their well-known myth.
