Right-wing activist Tommy Robinson, who was arrested for self-defense, has been released.

British activist Tommy Robinson was released today following an incident at a train station in which he was assaulted

Tommy Robinson, a well-known British right-wing activist, was released on bail this Tuesday, August 5 after being arrested at Luton Airport the previous night, upon his return to the United Kingdom from Portugal.

The arrest was in connection with an incident that took place on July 28 at St Pancras train station, London, in which a left-wing activist, who was discharged on July 30 and whose identity remains suspiciously withheld, attacked Robinson at point-blank range

The date set for his next hearing is September 2. This decision underscores that, despite the initial accusations, no formal charges have been filed so far and that Robinson has cooperated from the outset.

Robinson explains the assault he suffered.

The activist was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after landing on a flight from Portugal. A brief video began circulating on social media showing Robinson walking near a motionless man on the station floor, although that clip has been taken out of context.

In an explanatory video posted on his X account, Robinson detailed what happened: a man, allegedly drunk, recognized him and followed him after getting off a train, harassing him verbally and physically for several minutes.

The right-wing activist claims that he tried to avoid the confrontation at all times, walking away, asking the man to leave, and warning him that he did not want any trouble. However, when the individual cornered him at the top of a staircase and charged at him with his arms raised, he was forced to defend himself.

A case of self-defense.

Robinson has publicly called on the authorities to release the full security camera footage from the station, as it would clearly demonstrate that he was the victim of an attack and that his response was a necessary reaction to a physical threat.

Contrary to what some media outlets have suggested, Robinson did not flee the country after the incident.  He has provided evidence that his trip to Tenerife, in the early hours of July 29, was planned in advance.

He stated that his lawyer contacted the police the very morning after the incident, informing them of his whereabouts and the date of his return. He also claimed that the authorities were notified about his return flight, which was met with a heavy police presence that he considers unnecessary.
