Riot confirms Blitzcrank as the new fighter in 2XKO after accidental leak

Blitzcrank will be the ninth playable champion in 2XKO and will arrive in the closed beta starting September 9

An error on the official support website of Riot Games confirmed ahead of time the arrival of Blitzcrank as the ninth playable character in 2XKO, the new fighting game based on the universe of League of Legends. The leak occurred when the image of the automaton from Zaun appeared in several sections of the portal, which quickly caught the community's attention.

After the discovery spread, Riot ended up officially announcing the character's addition on its social media channels. Blitzcrank will debut in the closed beta on September 9 on PC, while news about the console versions is still pending.

The error that revealed the new champion

The leak happened when Blitzcrank's artwork appeared as the main image on the 2XKO support page and also in a navigation widget on the same site. The community quickly shared the material, which forced the studio to acknowledge the error and make the announcement official.

This type of incident highlights the importance of managing digital assets in the industry, although in this case it was a human oversight and not an external intrusion.

Blitzcrank brings variety to the roster of fighters

Known for his support role in League of Legends, Blitzcrank is an unconventional choice for a fighting title. Riot is betting on variety and originality in the line-up, which already includes Jinx, Ekko, Vi, Yasuo, and Darius, among others.

Since its presentation in 2021 under the name Project L, fans have requested characters with more unique designs, and Blitzcrank seems to answer that demand.

The players' reactions ranged from surprise to interest, since Blitzcrank joins the list of fighters that can be tested in the September closed beta.

Although there is still no definitive release date, 2XKO will launch as a free title on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5, with the promise of progressively expanding its roster and establishing itself as a benchmark in the fighting game genre.
