In the second match, the Milan team almost suffered a real embarrassment, as it was minutes away from losing to the Japanese side, which had taken the lead in the 11th minute with a goal from Ryoma Watanabe and managed to hold the result for almost the entire match. Fortunately for the Italians, two Argentinians came to the rescue: Lautaro Martínez and Valentín Carboni. "El Toro" scored the equalizer with a spectacular bicycle kick in the 78th minute, while the Lanús product turned the match around in stoppage time.

The last matchday of Group E of the Club World Cup for River will be against Inter Milan. Los Millonarios need to win or draw by two goals or more to avoid depending on what happens in the match between Urawa Red Diamonds and Rayados de Monterrey, which will be played simultaneously.
River comes into this match with a slight improvement in its footballing level, but its absences will force Muñeco Gallardo to make several changes. On the first matchday, Los Millonarios defeated Urawa 3-1, with goals from Facundo Colidio, Sebastián Driussiand Maximiliano Meza. Although the result was positive, the Núñez club had two major problems: the poor performance of the defense and even certain areas of the midfield and, which more directly affects future matches, Driussi's injury.

With the hope of securing its place in the round of 16, River faced Monterrey on the second matchday, a rival that could now eliminate it. In this match, the Argentine club showed a considerable improvement in its performance, especially in defense. However, it was not effective in attack, finishing 0-0 with the Regios. Beyond the result, which given how the match unfolded was negative, River lost three other key players: Kevin Castaño (sent off), Enzo Pérez and Giuliano Galoppo (both due to accumulation of yellow cards).

Meanwhile, Inter still seems affected by its heavy 5-0 defeat in the Champions League final against PSG. In its debut, despite being vastly superior in the run of play, the Italian side surprisingly drew 1-1 with Monterrey, with goals from Sergio Ramos for the Mexicans and Lautaro Martínez for the Nerazzurri.

In terms of history, the two teams have played each other only once, in a friendly match held at the Giuseppe Meazza as part of the 1961 Italy Tournament, a European tour by the Argentine team. Back then, Los Millonarios and the Nerazzurri drew 1-1, with goals from Mario Corso for the home side and the Brazilian Moacyr for the visitors.
