OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, has reignited concerns about the future of employment. According to his statements, GPT-5 already matches human experts in more than 40% of tests and could transform the global economy.

Altman warns that mass automation is not a distant threat: it has already begun. His message emphasizes adaptation, continuous learning, and creativity as key tools to remain relevant in a world dominated by algorithms.

GPT-5 and the comparison with humans

According to Altman, GPT-5 reaches levels previously attributed only to specialized professionals in healthcare, finance, and engineering. With the internal system GDPval, OpenAI measures the performance of its models against humans and confirms that GPT-5 matches or surpasses experts in 40.6% of tests.

This doesn't mean an immediate replacement: it is a paradigm shift where humans and machines collaborate. AI frees up time for more strategic and creative tasks, allowing people to focus their work on high-value solutions and projects.

Economic and labor impact

Altman projects that before 2030, up to 40% of economic tasks could be assumed by artificial intelligence.

The CEO emphasizes that the transition toward artificial general intelligence (AGI) must be ethical and controlled. The key lies in human-machine cooperation, not in the mass replacement of workers.
