Scandal in Río Segundo: contracts worth 2.7 billion in unfinished projects
Kirchnerist mayor Darío Chesta is under scrutiny for unfinished projects worth more than $2.7 billion in Río Segundo
The scandal came to light thanks to the ultra-Kirchnerist journalist Tomás Méndez, who exposed on Telenoche the millions transferred for phantom projects.
Amid the PJ's internal conflict, the journalist launched friendly fire to expose the scandalous administration of the mayor of Río Segundo.
2,400 million for unfinished housing
Residents of the town continue to report the lack of completion of multi-million projects that were financed by the national and provincial governments.
From the former Secretariat of Territorial Development, Housing, and Habitat, the Kirchnerist administration of Dario Chesta was financed through transfers that today would amount to nearly 2,400 million pesos. This refers to the execution of a plan for 27 homes to be built in Barrio Las Flores, with the municipality acting as the executing entity.
The construction of these homes had a maximum deadline of 12 months from the signing of the agreement, which took place in August 2021. With only a couple of walls erected, the project remains paralyzed when it should have been completed in August 2022. It is not surprising that, to this day, the homes are still unfinished and some even occupied illegally.

250 million for a plaza
Another scheme uncovered was the bidding of approximately 250 million pesos for the municipal plaza. This concerns Plaza Sarmiento, which received an initial disbursement of 50 million pesos in February 2024 for renovations, and an additional 200 million this year.
However, in the town, banners made by residents can be seen demanding the completion of the works. All this while Mayor Chesta recorded himself to post on social media and boast about progress that never actually materialized.

100 million for an unfinished vaccination center
This is the case of a vaccination center financed by a provincial agreement signed by former Health Minister Diego Hernán Cardozo. The funds transferred in May 2022, which at current values represent approximately 100 million pesos, were allocated for renovation and expansion.
To no one's surprise, 3 years later, the project remains unfinished, despite the entire budget having been spent.

Kirchnerism in its purest form
The cases exposed in Río Segundo are not isolated incidents, but rather part of a Kirchnerist management model based on waste and impunity. For years, the government of Alberto Fernández transferred millions to friendly municipalities without oversight or visible results, fueling a network of phantom projects that today only leave empty structures and evaporated funds.
Darío Chesta, Kirchnerist mayor of Río Segundo, is the main person responsible for these irregularities that are now coming to light. Under his administration, the municipality received millions in funding that did not result in completed projects, but rather in abandoned structures and suspicions of corruption. Far from providing explanations, Chesta chose silence while his administration accumulates complaints and unfulfilled promises.
Darío Chesta fue recibido por Alberto Fernández
The difference with the current national administration is abysmal: with Javier Milei, the era of uncontrolled discretionary funds has ended. Today, a new paradigm prevails where fiscal balance and transparency are the rule, not the exception. Citizens are beginning to clearly see who managed for the people and who only used them for personal gain.
