The United States Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, published a message on social media in which he harshly criticized Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren and described communist candidate Zohran Mamdani as "Peronist," who is seeking to become the next mayor of New York.
In his message on X, Bessent began with an ironic remark toward the senator from Massachusetts: "Few should be surprised by Elizabeth Warren's self-pitying interpretation of 'Don’t Cry for Me Massachusetts'." From there, he emphasized that the economic policies Warren has promoted since her arrival in the Senate in 2013 "rival the failed leftist agenda of the Argentine opposition."

The Treasury Secretary went further by labeling Zohran Mamdani as "Peronist" and warning that if he becomes mayor, he could replicate the model of decline. "If his political soulmate and fellow American Peronist, Zohran Mamdani, becomes mayor of New York City, I'm sure the senator will request a financial bailout when he drives the city into bankruptcy," he stated.
