After advancing in a financial assistance agreement for Argentina and then presenting the "Global Citizen 2025" award to him this Wednesday, the United States Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, once again publicly praised President Javier Milei and confirmed that he will support the entirety of his reform program.

Through a message posted on his X account, Donald Trump's official stated: "President Milei is restoring economic stability after decades of poor Argentine management. Markets aren't losing confidence in him: they're looking in the rearview mirror. The US Treasury is determined to support his reforms," he said.

The statement added a new chapter to the relationship between the White House and the Argentine Government. With these remarks, Bessent reinforced what he had already stated a day earlier in New York, when he praised the libertarian leader during the Atlantic Council's annual gala. There he stated that "thanks to his visionary leadership, the world is beginning to see Argentina with new eyes."

With his intervention, Bessent sought to send a signal of confidence and support for the economic plan led by Milei. The official recalled that Argentina had been going through a lengthy period of instability.

He explained that, after "decades of poor management," various governments replied to the imbalances with measures that deepened distrust. Faced with this scenario, he highlighted that Milei's administration chose a different path, focused on fiscal balance and reducing the size of the State.

During his speech at the Atlantic Council gala, Bessent detailed that Milei promoted a program aimed at achieving a fiscal surplus for the third consecutive year, something the country hadn't achieved in over one hundred years. He also emphasized that Milei's Government seeks to replace a "corrupt and wasteful" bureaucracy with an "austere and efficient" administration.

The Secretary of the Treasury also highlighted the political importance of these decisions. He stated that Milei gave greater prominence to society and compared this situation to Donald Trump's experience in the United States. According to him, the Argentine presidency caused a cultural change that began to spread to other Latin American countries.
