This Tuesday, six F-16 fighter jets from the second batch acquired by the Government of Javier Milei took off from Denmark to begin the ferry flight to Argentine territory.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Defense, led by Carlos Pestri, who confirmed that the units of the Fighting Falcon series have already begun their transfer and will soon be incorporated into the Argentine Air Force.
Through its official channels, the Defense Ministry described the operation as a new historic milestone for the Armed Forces and stated: “Another historic day for our Defense. The second batch of F-16 Fighting Falcons from our Air Force took off from Denmark to begin the ferry flight to Argentina.”
The aircraft will need to complete a journey over the Atlantic before arriving in the country. The Ministry of Defense added: “It is a long journey over the Atlantic, with a clear destination. To reach our country and continue incorporating capabilities for a modern, prepared Air Force that meets the challenges of National Defense.”
The six aircraft are already in flight towards Argentina. According to official information, their arrival is expected for the upcoming weekend, between September 26 and 28, at the Río Cuarto Material Area in the province of Córdoba.
With the new transfer, the number of F-16s on Argentine soil will rise to 12 aircraft. The operation includes a total acquisition of 24 fighters.
The Ministry of Defense also emphasized the importance of these additions for the capabilities of the Armed Forces and stated that the new units represent a significant step in the modernization process of the Air Force.
At the same time, they highlighted the significance of the arrival of these aircraft and emphasized the incorporation of capabilities for national defense, referencing “an Argentina that is looking up again.”
Thus, with the expected arrival in the coming days, Argentina will reach 12 units received out of the 24 F-16s included in the historic purchase made from Denmark.
