His mother's battle with Alzheimer's

Amid his recent channel change, leaving Todo Noticias to join América and just hours before his debut with Lape Social Club, he had a conversation with Teleshow in which he spoke like never before about his parents and opened up about his mother's condition. "My mom has Alzheimer's. You arrive, she shakes your hand and doesn't let go," he expressed with emotion.

One of the special moments occurs when the host visits her and plays the piano, an instrument she used to play as well  "She doesn't move, she doesn't speak, but when I play the piano for her, she moves her little foot," he confessed visibly moved.

An unforgettable moment that made him cry

Although the disease prevents her from recognizing him, Lapegüe found a way to connect with his mother. "The other day she was upset because she gets annoyed when they bathe her. So, I went to play the piano", the journalist recounted.

That gesture sparked an unforgettable moment. "They put her in the wheelchair, she looked through the stairs and, upon hearing the music, she exclaimed: 'Sergio!'" he recounted with a choked voice. At that moment, tears welled up in his eyes.  "I played and cried, and then, when I came down, she no longer recognized me", he concluded with deep sadness.

Lapegüe's testimony reflects the emotional complexity of living with a loved one suffering from Alzheimer's and the importance of the small moments that manage to keep the emotional connection alive.
