A magnitude 7.4 earthquake shook Colombia this Monday and generated a strong shock throughout the country According to the newly elected president Abelardo de la Espriella, the preliminary balance speaks of 111 deceased, 87 injured, 1,575 damaged homes, 37 completely destroyed, 61 collapsed buildings, in addition to 18 health centers and 52 educational establishments affected

The tragedy immediately mobilized several of the country's most recognized artists, who shared messages of support and solidarity from different parts of the world Among the voices that joined in are Shakira, Maluma, J Balvin, Camilo, and Sebastián Yatra, who publicly expressed their pain and willingness to help

Shakira wrote emphatically: “Dear Colombia, my heart is with everyone who felt this earthquake today and with the families who are going through moments of anguish. In times like this, Colombians know how to unite and support each other. All my strength and love for my land. Let’s hug tightly and stay alert to the indications to help as soon as possible”

Maluma, for his part, expressed deep concern: “What pain everything that is happening in Colombia, a hug to the soul to all the families of the victims and we are here ready to help. Later we will post ways to help the most needy. LET'S GO COLOMBIA. Now we really need that strength and unity”

J Balvin also raised his voice to call for strength and concrete action “A lot of strength with this situation of the tremor in Colombia, strength for all its people and families that are affected. Let’s move to help the situation,” said the singer

Camilo shared a more personal reflection He mentioned that the total magnitude of the losses was still unknown and that he felt “a hole in his stomach” after talking with friends who told him how they experienced the earthquake. “What fear and what pain. We are waiting to know very soon what are the best ways to help so we can join in. I’m checking my DM in case you have info and calls to action. I love you all,” he wrote

Sebastián Yatra closed the round of messages with a call for closeness: “Thinking a lot about Colombia and all those affected. We are closer than ever in these moments”

In an emergency context, public voices carry special weight to maintain attention on the situation and facilitate the organization of aid

A moment of unity in the face of the emergency

The earthquake left an image of exposed vulnerabilities in different regions of the country Preliminary figures already show a significant impact on housing, educational and health infrastructure, which anticipates a long and complex recovery process

In light of this scenario, the artists' calls point to the same thing: not leaving those affected alone and being attentive to official or reliable channels to collaborate The reiteration of the idea of unity appears as a common thread in almost all messages

The solidarity response from these public figures adds to the efforts of thousands of Colombians who, from different places, seek ways to contribute

The tragedy is still unfolding and the number of affected could change in the coming hours. For now, the message that crosses social media is clear: Colombia needs strength, organization, and concrete help that reaches those who need it most
