The shocking physical transformation of Leopoldo Luque, former personal doctor of Diego Maradona
The neurosurgeon went to the defendant's bench in the trial for Diego's death and surprised everyone with his change of appearance.
At the start of the trial for Diego Maradona's death, neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque surprised everyone with a remarkable physical transformation. Upon appearing at the San Isidro Courthouse, Luque displayed a more muscular and robust appearance, significantly contrasting with the image people had of him in 2020, when he was the personal doctor of the soccer star.
According to reports, Luque is said to have undergone an intense training and diet regimen in recent months, which would explain his new physique resembling that of a bodybuilder. Even before entering the courtroom for the trial, he was seen eating a homemade meal in a tupperware, following his self-imposed routine.
This transformation caught the attention of those present in the court and the media, who highlighted his bodybuilder-like stature.

Who is Leopoldo Luque?
Leopoldo Luque is one of the seven defendants in the case investigating Maradona's death, which occurred on November 25, 2020. He was the trusted neurosurgeon of the former player and his actions were key in his last months of life, being pointed out as one of the main responsible for the deterioration of his health, for making questionable medical decisions and not giving him enough attention.
One of the controversial decisions he made was recommending a head surgery for the former player, despite it not being urgent or even safe given his condition.

Another reason he is criticized is for the chats and audios that were leaked in which he spoke disparagingly of Maradona. These showed a clear lack of interest in his health and the physical and mental state he was in at that time.
Despite the criticisms, Luque always defended his actions and denied any responsibility for Diego's death. "If I'm responsible for anything with Diego, it's for loving him, taking care of him, extending his life, and improving it until the end. I did the impossible for that: I got him access to a psychologist, a psychiatrist... I achieved what no one else could," commented the personal doctor.
He also spoke about how the accusations affect him: "Regarding the things that are said, I can't even read them, because I'm very upset because my friend died. I was at the wake, at the burial, and I saw people I had never seen before, and to say that I wasn't with him, I couldn't believe it." And he concluded: "I'm not responsible for all this."
