Unbelievable: one month after his departure, Fernando Gago hasn't terminated his contract with Boca
Even though he disassociated from the club after the Superclásico, the club didn't take the necessary steps to definitively part ways with Pintita
After Boca's elimination in the Torneo Apertura, a new situation has emerged at the club. According to various sources, the termination ofFernando Gago's contract as coach has not been signed yet.
On April 28, Chicho Serna publicly announced that the management led by Juan Román Riquelme had decided to end Pintita's tenure after the defeat at the Monumental against River. However, since then no progress has been made in the procedures to formalize his departure.
This means that, from a legal standpoint, Fernando Gago is still Boca's coach. This situation complicates the club, as the regulations of the Argentine Football Coaches Association (ATFA) prevent registering a new coach without first resolving the departure of the previous one.

From Gago's close circle, they claim that no one from the club's legal department has contacted to negotiate the economic compensation for his dismissal. Therefore, his contract remains in effect, even though almost a month has passed since he was removed from the position.
This scenario could explain why there is still no official replacement and why Boca chose to keep Mariano Herrón as interim coach, who had been working with the Reserve team.
It is worth remembering that, additionally, Pintita put money from his own pocket to leave Chivas de Guadalajara and fulfill his desire to coach the club from La Ribera. His contractual bond with Boca extended until December 2027, which implies that theamount of the compensation is considerable for the club's finances.
Boca's next coach
After the elimination against Independiente, Mariano Herrón acknowledged in a press conference that he did not meet the expectations of his interim role. This reignited the question among fans about who will be the next coach.

For now, there are no clear signs of who will take the position. According to different versions, Gustavo Quinteros was not contacted, Tata Martino is not interested in the position, and Gabriel Milito is no longer an option, as he doesn't wish to take on the club. In this scenario, uncertainty grows as the Club World Cup quickly approaches.
