The nation was shaken last Friday, June 5, 2026, upon learning of the passing of Carlos Alberto “Indio” Solari, who at the age of 77 left this world at his residence in Parque Leloir. The death of the former leader of Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota and Los Fundamentalistas del Aire Acondicionado occurred during the early morning due to a hemorrhagic stroke while he was in his heated pool. According to the report from UFI N°2 of Ituzaingó, led by prosecutor Lucio Rivero, doctors confirmed the death at 8:30 in the morning, ruling out any drowning hypothesis and confirming that the artist, who had been suffering from Parkinson's since he made it public in Tandil in 2016, had an immediate end.
The popular respect was manifested in a massive farewell that began spontaneously in Plaza de Mayo and at the Obelisco, culminating in a public wake at the José María Gatica Sports Center in Villa Dominico, in Avellaneda. There, a crowd formed lines of several kilometers to pay their last respects to someone who left an indelible mark on Argentine music.

However, the solemnity of the mourning was interrupted by ideological opportunism. Deputy Esteban Paulón presented a bill under the file number 2688-D-2026, which aims to declare June 5 of each year as the “National Day of Ricotera Culture and Pogo”. This initiative not only seeks to recognize the musician's career but also attempts to elevate a social phenomenon to the status of "national norm," inviting provinces, municipalities, and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires to spend resources promoting activities and exhibitions related to this date.
