'Spaceballs 2': The Star Wars satire returns with its original cast
Rick Moranis returns after decades of retirement for Spaceballs 2, alongside Mel Brooks and Bill Pullman. It premieres in 2027
After years of rumors, the sequel to the legendary parody of Star Wars is finally entering production. Rick Moranis is coming out of retirement to return as Dark Helmet.
Mel Brooks, at 98 years old, is also returning, alongside Bill Pullman and a new addition: Keke Palmer. The premiere is set for 2027.

Rick Moranis returns as Dark Helmet
The big surprise is the return of Rick Moranis, who spent decades away from acting. His return to the screen as the clumsy villain Dark Helmet excites fans of absurd comedy.
The actor had left Hollywood in the 1990s for personal reasons, so his participation was uncertain. However, the production managed to convince him.
Mel Brooks and Bill Pullman are also joining
Mel Brooks, creator and soul of the saga, will reprise his role as Yogurt, a parody of Yoda. At 98 years old, he shows that his sense of humor remains intact.

Bill Pullman, who played Lone Starr, will also return to action. The original trio is reuniting for this new intertop-tier odyssey.
What is known about the plot?
The story is under wraps. All that is known is that MGM has already started production and the premiere is scheduled for 2027.

The first teaser already pokes fun at the excess of Star Wars content and other franchises like Marvel, DC, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter.
An updated satire
The 1987 original mocked George Lucas's classic trilogy. Spaceballs 2 aims to do the same with today's genre film landscape.
Brooks seems to have a lot to say—and laugh about—regarding the saturation of franchises in Hollywood.
