A Sudanese immigrant brutally attacked and attempted to behead a man in broad daylight in the United Kingdom, in a new case that quickly went viral on social media and generated outrage.

The incident took place in the city of Belfast late on Monday and resulted in the arrest of an immigrant. Meanwhile, thousands of users on social media shared images and videos showing the attacker attempting to kill his victim.

According to the circulating images, the attacker used a knife to try to kill the victim on the street, in a scene of extreme violence. The video shows how the attacker immobilizes the man while he tries to resist, and later it can be seen how he attempts to cut off his head with the weapon.

During the episode, screams from neighbors witnessing the scene were heard. “Get off him, damn rat!,” shouted a woman, while another witness warned: “He’s trying to cut off his head. He’s cutting off his head.” The quick intervention of people present at the scene was key to stopping the attack.

Neighbors in the area immediately rushed to intervene. One of them hit the attacker with a stick, while others tried to free the victim, who was seriously injured. The collective action saved the man's life while they awaited the arrival of the police.

The victim, a British man approximately 40 years old, suffered significant injuries to his eyes and serious cuts to his back and face. The police described the incident as a “brutal” attempted murder and confirmed that the suspect was arrested at the scene.

According to available information, the detained immigrant resided in the United Kingdom under a “refugee” visa granted in 2023 for a duration of five years.

The case of Henry Nowak

The case occurs in a context of growing social concern over safety and illegal immigration, especially following another recent episode that generated national outrage. This involves the murder of Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old British university student, which occurred on December 3, 2025, in Southampton.

Nowak was fatally stabbed in the chest by Vickrum Digwa. When the police arrived at the scene, the attacker falsely accused the victim of harassment and racist comments. The officers believed him, which led to Nowak being handcuffed while he bled out, repeating “I can’t breathe,” a situation that provoked strong criticism and public protests.

Subsequently, Vickrum Digwa was sentenced to life imprisonment, but the case left a strong controversy regarding police actions.
