"This isn't the Superman we knew"

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cain criticized the new Superman approach for adapting to what he defined as a woke agenda.

"For me, Superman has always represented truth and justice the American way", the actor stated, distancing himself from Gunn's vision.

Cain's complaint

Cain emphasized that he doesn't have a problem with changes, but he believes new characters should be created to reflect that, instead of rewriting established icons.

"If you want to tell another story, create another character. Don't change Superman to fit current trends", he emphasized.

On immigration: "He's an alien, but there are rules"

Gunn had highlighted the immigrant side of the character to justify his approach. Cain partially agreed, but used it as an argument against it.

"Of course we know Superman is an immigrant: he's a damn alien", he fired back, adding that even from that position, he must respect values and rules.

A defense of classic values

The actor insisted that the Superman who inspired generations doesn't need a revision. "He has always been inclusive without losing his essence," he declared.

He concluded that Gunn's version blurs what makes the character unique, turning him into something generic.
