Storm in Córdoba: residents trapped and reports of neglect under Passerini's administration
Trapped residents, impassable streets, and stranded cars reveal the authorities' improvisation in the midst of the emergency
The rains this past weekend in Córdoba left a critical situation in the Universitario de Horizonte neighborhood. The gravel streets gave way and turned into an impassable quagmire that trapped more than 15 vehicles. Entire families were trapped in their homes, unable to go to work or carry out daily activities.
The storm set historic records, with 332 millimeters (13.07 inches) in Cruz Alta and more than 100 (3.94 inches) in areas of the capital. In Universitario de Horizonte, located near Route 5 and the grounds of the Catholic University, the situation became unsustainable. Residents documented the desperation of recent hours with photos and videos.

The scene showed immobilized vehicles and flooded streets that became impossible to traverse. The Santa Rosa storm, which caused havoc in much of the province, also exposed the fragility of the "works" in progress. The Córdoba neighborhood became an example of the impact of inefficiency in local management.

Poorly executed works and ignored warnings
Apparently, sewer works were being carried out in the neighborhood that could not withstand the force of the water. Residents had warned the construction company that the rains could cause a disaster. Civic foresight was ignored and the consequence was a total collapse in the area.
The mud prevented access for private cars and even complicated the entry of emergency vehicles. The lack of planning was evident on every impassable block. Residents reported that "no one is taking responsibility" for the situation, while anger and indignation grow.
Cooperativa Horizonte, responsible for the project, and the Córdoba Municipality blame each other. Meanwhile, residents remain trapped in the midst of the emergency. "No one can go to work, this can't be fixed in a day," they warned with frustration.

Neglect and political apathy in Córdoba
The emergency in Universitario de Horizonte once again reflected the official improvisation in the provincial capital. After two years in office, Mayor Daniel Passerini appears absent in the face of the most serious problems. The neighborhood was left to its fate in a scenario of evident neglect.
Residents point out that there was no immediate assistance or concrete responses to alleviate the situation. The criticism deepens due to the lack of oversight and foresight in a key project for the area. The city, they claim, is adrift due to the municipality's inaction.
The Santa Rosa storm revealed that Córdoba lacks a serious infrastructure and emergency plan. Citizens are paying the price for apathy, trapped between the mud and uncertainty. The complaint is directed at authorities who, once again, passed the buck without providing solutions.
