Storm and power outages: damage and affected neighborhoods in Córdoba Capital

Seven distributors remain out of service, and fallen poles, blown-off structures, and loose cables have been reported

The strong wind that broke out early Monday morning caused multiple material damages in different parts of the city of Córdoba. The gusts, which reached 77 kilometers per hour (48 miles per hour) in the Jardín neighborhood, caused power outages in numerous areas. EPEC confirmed that there are still seven distributors out of service.

The company's spokesperson indicated that there are partial interruptions in the Marcelo T. de Alvear, Los Filtros, Panamericano, Villa Azalais, and Yofre Sud neighborhoods. Meanwhile, residents of Cerro de las Rosas and Urca were also affected by the blackouts during the night. In the provincial interior, outages were reported in towns such as Arroyo Cabral.

The company stated that emergency services have been reinforced to speed up the response in the affected areas. EPEC also asked the public not to touch fallen wires and to wait for authorized personnel. "We're working to restore service in each impacted area," they assured.

Civil Defense reports fallen poles, roofs, and signs due to the storm

Nine EPEC poles, nine public lighting poles, and three telecommunications poles were knocked down by the wind according to Civil Defense. Two signs in public areas collapsed and three others were left in a dangerous condition, which led to preventive street closures. Eight roofs were also blown off, three exposed cables, and fallen branches were reported in different areas of the city.

"We're waiting for daylight to finish collecting the fallen branches and trees," said Walter Moyano, director of Civil Defense. He also confirmed that no injuries were reported and it was not necessary to activate assistance operations. Cleaning work will continue throughout the day in the most affected neighborhoods.

The areas most affected include Los Gigantes, Juan B. Justo, Circunvalación, and Fuerza Aérea Avenue. There, numerous homes have been without electricity since early morning. EPEC continues to deploy crews to address complaints in each sector.
