African football, especially in Ghana, was shocked after the assassination of Dominic Frimpong. The 20-year-old Berekum Chelsea soccer player was killed in a violent assault on his team's microphone while returning from a local Premier League game
.The attack occurred on the Bibiani-Goaso highway, near Ahyiresu, when the squad was returning from Samreboi after playing a match against Samartex. In a statement, the club detailed what happened: “On our way back to Berekum from Samreboi, our bus was attacked by a group of armed assailants who blocked the road to prevent our passage. Masked men armed with pistols and assault rifles began shooting at our bus while the driver
tried to reverse.”In the midst of the shooting, players and members of the coaching staff escaped to areas of vegetation for shelter. However, Frimpong was shot in the head before he could get off the microphone. He was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital, where he died
