Thanks to Donald Trump, sex change surgeries in minors have been stopped.
At least 16 medical institutions have decided to halt sex change surgeries in underage children in recent months
In recent months, numerous hospitals and health systems in the United States have halted or canceled medical services related to gender reassignment surgeries for minors.
This trend has accelerated due to increasing legal, regulatory, and political pressures from the White House, while at the same time adapting to societal demands.
A notable case is Kaiser Permanente, one of the largest nonprofit health organizations in the country, which announced the suspension of all surgeries related to gender dysphoria for patients under 19 years old starting August 29, 2025.
This decision, made at Kaiser's headquarters in Oakland, California, affects all its centers nationwide, including those in Oregon and Washington.

The official statement suspending gender reassignment surgeries for minors
In its official statement, the healthcare provider indicated that the decision was made following the excellent campaign that the federal government carried out against gender reassignment treatments and surgeries for minors.
This campaign has included funding restrictions and court subpoenas for doctors and clinics involved in these procedures. This legal action is part of an ongoing federal investigation.
Kaiser also referenced a July 9 hearing organized by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which is evaluating whether some providers of healthcare for minors have engaged in deceptive business practices.
Although surgeries will be suspended, Kaiser will continue to offer other types of gender reassignment services for minors, such as implantable hormone treatments. Kaiser will also facilitate referrals to other surgical providers where possible.

Kaiser joins other hospitals
These measures have caused significant praise in many states across the country and some criticism in territories dominated by the Democratic Party.
For example, Oregon's Attorney General, Democrat Dan Rayfield, stated that he will work with providers to ensure that these harmful services can continue to be administered.
This change by Kaiser adds to similar decisions by other major hospitals:
- Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. suspended the prescription of gender reassignment medications.
- Children’s Hospital Los Angeles closed its pediatric clinic for "trans children."
- UChicago Medicine announced the complete discontinuation of pediatric gender reassignment care due to possible federal consequences for its Medicaid and Medicare programs.
Through administrative measures, federal investigations, and funding policies, the Trump administration succeeded in getting dozens of hospitals to voluntarily halt services they previously offered.
