The province of Corrientes announced a historic investment of 2 billion dollars for the construction of an industrial plant in Ituzaingó, for the production and export of high-quality pine fiber.

The project, which foresees the generation of 13,000 jobs, was presented as a turning point for the regional economy and the Argentine forest-industrial chain, in a context of increasing investment inflows thanks to the macroeconomic stability generated by the Government of Javier Milei.

“Today begins a story of transformation for the economy of the province of Corrientes and the city of Ituzaingó: the creation of a plant to industrialize high-quality pine fiber and export it to the entire world from the province itself,” the provincial government said, reflecting official enthusiasm for the announcement.

The initiative will be developed in the Ituzaingó Industrial Park and will be led by the company ARPULP S.A., an Argentinean-backed firm with experience in the

region.

As reported, it will be the largest long-fiber pine plant in the world, with state-of-the-art technology and an annual turnover projection of close to 900 million dollars.

Governor Juan Pablo Valdés highlighted the social and economic impact of the project: “This is an opportunity for growth and development for the province, which will serve to create genuine employment and will impact the prosperity of thousands of Corrientes families.”

In addition, he indicated that “the Pegasus investment fund will begin with the tasks of seeking large scale strategic financing”, while by 2027 progress will be made in

engineering the project.

Regarding the execution deadlines, Fernando Correa, responsible for industrial technology, explained that “if all the financial requirements manage to advance in time, between 2028 and 2030 we will be dedicated to the construction of the model plant, to start operating fully towards the end of 2030”.

In addition, they highlighted that the local production of this input will not only replace imports, but also position Argentina in segments with greater added value within the global chain.

The Argentine Industrial Forestry Council (Confiar) welcomed the announcement, considering that it “represents one of the most important milestones for the Argentine forestry industry in recent decades.”

Along these lines, he stressed: “The economic impact of an investment of this magnitude is significant. Not only because of the direct inflow of capital, but because of its multiplier effect on the entire forest-industrial chain
