An unprecedented statistical anomaly has shaken the crime figures in Spain, confirming the worst fears about the impact of the national Trans Law promoted by Irene Montero and regional laws. In just five years, sexual assaults with penetration attributed to "women" have increased eightfold, rising from 25 cases in 2019 to the shocking figure of 198 in 2024. This increase represents a brutal 792% rise in half a decade, according to data from the Statistical Crime Portal.
The figures, updated with data on detainees and those under investigation, reveal an upward trend that chronologically coincides with the proliferation of these regulations. The initial doubling occurred between 2019 (25 cases) and 2021 (50 cases). The escalation skyrocketed in 2022, reaching 124 cases, foreshadowing the lack of control that would follow the entry into force of the national Trans Law on March 2, 2023.
The most alarming aspect of this statistical absurdity is its geographical concentration. Of the 198 crimes recorded in 2024, an overwhelming majority of 176 occurred in Catalonia. This figure represents 88.88% of the total cases attributed to "women" throughout Spain.

In the face of this flagrant anomaly, the platform Feministas de Catalonia has demanded explanations from the government of Salvador Illa. The president of the association, Silvia Carrasco, has been forceful in her statements to the media: "We have asked the Department of Justice and we still don't have answers, but without data on legal sex changes granted to those convicted of rape, nor data on legal sex changes by Autonomous Communities, it's difficult to interpret this. What is clear is that none of these sexual offenders is a woman. It's insulting, the trans law must be repealed."
Carrasco insists that the real problem is the systemic falsification of criminological truth: "We have repeatedly pointed out the impact of trans laws on something as serious as the falsification of sexual violence statistics, since, according to the Ministry of the Interior, there were 174 rapes with penetration committed by 'women' in 2023, when it was evidently men. Now we have a new outrageous figure, and this is happening mainly in Catalonia."
