The Washington Post once again praised Javier Milei's government's measures
Additionally, he explains how his management can be considered a precedent for Donald Trump's program in the United States
The renowned American media outlet The Washington Post dedicated its Sunday print edition cover to President Javier Milei, in an article highlighting the cuts implemented by the Argentine leader since he took office.
It also explains how his administration can be considered a precursor to DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency led by businessman Elon Musk, responsible for carrying out the deregulation plan promoted by Donald Trump since his return to the White House.
"Before DOGE, the Argentine Milei led the cuts," is the title of the article signed by journalists Samantha Schmidt and David Feliba.
The text begins with a description of the meeting between Milei and Musk during the Conservative Political Action Conference last month, when the Argentine president gave him a chainsaw as a gift, a symbol of his austerity policy and public spending reduction.

"The symbol chosen by Javier Milei for his war against public spending was now in the hands of the man tasked with reducing American bureaucracy," highlights The Washington Post.
The publication emphasizes that, in less than a year and a half in office, Milei reduced the number of ministries from 18 to 8, laid off more than 40,000 public employees, eliminated subsidies, and suspended most public works projects. It also highlights that he managed to drastically reduce inflation and achieve an annual fiscal surplus, something that hadn't happened since 2010.
According to The Washington Post, "Milei is one of President Donald Trump's biggest supporters in the Western Hemisphere," recalling that the Republican leader called him his "favorite president" and even invited him to his inauguration ceremony.

"The Argentine president has enjoyed the praise and has closely aligned himself with Trump's political vision: He has promised to eradicate 'woke' culture and has stripped certain rights from Argentina's transgender community. He has said he will leave the World Health Organization and is considering exiting the Paris climate agreements," the article states.
Another aspect the article highlights is Milei's alignment with Trump's policies following the Republicans' return to the White House.
"At the end of February, Argentina abstained in a United Nations vote to condemn Russia for its war in Ukraine, a drastic change for a country that had long supported the Kiev government. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attended Milei's inauguration in 2023," the text concludes.
