They arrested an armed 'naranjita' who was stealing cars in Nueva Córdoba
The 30-year-old car attendant was caught at Chacabuco and Rondeau after attempting to flee with a stereo
A new criminal incident with a parking attendant as the main figure took place in the early hours in the Nueva Córdoba neighborhood. The detainee was identified as Gustavo Gamboa, 30 years old. The incident adds to a series of similar episodes that are causing concern among residents.
The police replied after 911 calls alerted them to a man acting suspiciously near several vehicles. When the officers arrived at the intersection of Chacabuco and Rondeau, they caught him inside a Chevrolet Corsa. The car showed visible damage to the driver's door, indicating it had been forced open.
The criminal tried to escape on foot, throwing away objects he was carrying, but he was subdued a few meters away. Among his belongings, officers found a case with a stereo, allegedly stolen minutes earlier. He also had a black jacket with money, a knife, and a reflective vest.

Details of the police procedure
In addition to the stereo, the officers seized the other items the man was carrying, including the bladed weapon. The knife, a Tramontina type, was hidden among his clothes, which reinforces the hypothesis that he was planning to commit more thefts. The reflective vest confirmed that he worked as a "naranjita" in the area.
After the arrest, Gamboa was placed at the disposal of the justice system and was taken to the police station along with the seized evidence. According to the provincial force, the response was immediate thanks to citizen cooperation. The procedure prevented the incident from escalating further.
This case once again brings into debate the lack of control over parking attendants operating in Córdoba's capital. Many residents demand that their activity be regulated or that they be removed from public spaces to prevent further crimes. Civil organizations are calling for harsher penalties for repeat offenders.

The controversy over "naranjitas" in Córdoba
The figure of the parking attendant generates strong controversy in the city, where there is no clear regulation of their work. In areas such as Nueva Córdoba, Güemes, and downtown, "naranjitas" have become part of the urban landscape, but with increasing reports of extortion and criminal acts.
Residents and business owners maintain that, far from providing security, some parking attendants take advantage of their presence to mark cars and commit thefts. The Municipality had tried to move forward with an official registry, but the project was stalled and effective control was never implemented.
For neighborhood associations and security organizations, the absence of regulations creates a legal vacuum that allows these incidents to recur. They propose tougher penalties and preventive measures, such as constant patrols in critical areas and a ban on the activity in conflict zones.
