Newsstands are authorized to offer mail services: they can deliver
The government authorized newspaper kiosks to deliver mail, packages, ID cards, and online purchases
The Government of Javier Milei signed a decree that authorizes newsstands to offer postal mail services. The measure seeks to expand their functions and deregulate the sector, promoting free competition.
News kiosks will not only sell print media, they will also be able to deliver correspondence and official documentation.

What services newsstands will be able to provide
The regulation published in decree 629/2025 specifies that they will now be authorized to operate as mailboxes, after registering with Enacom or through agreements with authorized postal operators.
- Delivery of general correspondence
- Dispatch of parcels and paperwork
- Storage and safekeeping of shipments
- Distribution of purchases made through e-commerce
- Delivery of credit and debit cards
- Management of DNI and passports
The deregulation of the postal market
This change adds to decree 1005/2024, which last November had already deregulated much of the postal activity. At that time, operators were allowed to send packages of up to 50 kilograms (110 pounds) within and outside the country.

According to the regulation, the goal is to simplify access to the market, reduce bureaucratic obstacles, and improve last-mile logistics, which is key to the growth of e-commerce.
Impact on commerce and logistics
The opening of the market fostered more competition and led to the emergence of new players. This expanded the range of services and accelerated distribution processes.

In addition, digitalization of procedures was incorporated, such as identity verification via ReNaPer. This improves the traceability of shipments and streamlines management for users and companies.
