Drones, technology, and logistics to smuggle drugs into the prison
According to the investigation, the gang used drones with infrared cameras to drop packages containing narcotics and cell phones inside the prison. "They practically made hand deliveries to the inmates on a daily basis," prosecutor Cornejo explained when providing details of the procedure. The packages contained drugs, phones, SIM cards, and accessories that were directed to specific areas of the penitentiary complex.
Four of those involved were intercepted on National Route 36, near a toll booth, while they were attempting to make a new delivery. One of the drones was found in the vehicle along with several packages ready to be dropped by air into the prison. The seized items were sent for forensic analysis to determine their connection to previously detected flights.
As part of the operation, the prosecutor's office issued 123 search warrants inside Bouwer prison. The procedures were carried out with the collaboration of the Córdoba Penitentiary Service, which facilitated access to the designated cell blocks. The detainees and all seized assets were placed at the disposal of the Federal Justice, under National Narcotics Law No. 23,737.
