Thierry Henry showered Julián Álvarez with praise.
Arsenal legend highlighted the Argentine forward and considered that his player profile is what the English club needs to strengthen
Thierry Henry, Arsenal icon and emblematic figure in world football, expressed his admiration for Julián Álvarez, current standout for Atlético de Madrid. During his appearance on the podcast "We Are The Overlap", he highlighted the versatility and constant effort of the world champion with the Argentina national team.
"One of my favorite number 9s right now is Julián Álvarez. We've been talking about that. He presses, he plays alone, whatever you want him to do," he stated. The former French striker also praised a recent free-kick goal by the player from Córdoba, emphasizing his ability to maintain possession and create danger without needing support.

Beyond his technical qualities, Henry also underscored Álvarez's physical and mental strength. "He played in the Olympic Games, he played in Copa América... I don't hear him say "I'm tired." The way he plays, I just like it," he commented, highlighting the forward's commitment and dedication.
Meanwhile, Henry, Arsenal idol, also criticized the lack of a center forward in Mikel Arteta's squad, suggesting that a player like Álvarez could make a difference. "When you look at the injuries and look at the players who came in, he brought in players. He got (Raheem) Sterling when everyone wanted a number nine," he pointed out.

In his debut season with Atlético de Madrid, Álvarez scored 29 goals in 54 appearances, becoming the team's top scorer in all competitions and positioning himself among the most outstanding forwards in the five major European leagues. His high level has attracted the interest of several clubs, including Barcelona.

Atlético, which paid around 90 million euros to sign him, considers him a key piece in its sporting project. The management has made it clear that it has no intention of selling the striker, something the president reaffirmed amid rumors about supposed interest from the Catalan club.
