The private management of the Main Navigable Route has begun and will have a lower toll

The Main Navigable Waterway (VNT) begins a new phase under a private management scheme, with a program of strategic works aimed at improving navigation on one of the main routes for Argentine foreign trade. The new scheme also includes a reduction in tolls, which will decrease from US$4.30 to US$3.80.

The model aims to reduce logistics costs, improve infrastructure, and increase the competitiveness of Argentine production. The concession also includes new works and technology to modernize the navigation system and strengthen safety in one of the country's most important river corridors.

Greater depth and expansion of the navigable waterway

Among the main points of the new scheme is the deepening of the De la Plata and Paraná rivers, a key project to facilitate the transit of larger vessels and improve navigation conditions.

The expansion of the Main Navigable Waterway in Entre Ríos is also planned, with the opening and maintenance of new sections of the river corridor. In particular, the project includes work on the Paraná Guazú, Paraná Bravo, and Pasaje Talavera.

These works aim to improve connectivity between different points of the waterway and create better conditions for cargo transport.

Technology for safer navigation

The new phase of the concession also incorporates state-of-the-art technology to modernize the operation of the Main Navigable Waterway.

The scheme includes the incorporation of cameras, radars, and digital systems, tools designed to enhance monitoring of vessels and safety conditions along the corridor.

Digitalization will provide greater information about movement in the navigable waterway and contribute to a more efficient operation.

A lower fee to reduce logistics costs

One of the highlighted aspects of the new scheme is the reduction of the toll from US$4.30 to US$3.80.

The decrease directly aims to lower costs associated with river transport, a relevant factor for the production chains that use the Main Navigable Waterway to transport goods to the main exit points of the country.
