This April 8, Mario Schiter, former doctor of Diego Maradona, appeared before the San Isidro Court in the trial for the death of the Argentine idol. The doctor, who accompanied the footballer since the 1990s, played a key role in Maradona's health during his most challenging moments, and his words could have great relevance in the legal process.
In an interview with DDM (América), Schiter expressed that it was an honor to have been by Maradona's side for so many years. "Being with him without any kind of objective, just assisting him, was an honor," the doctor stated. He also revealed that, in 2000, when Maradona was going through severe heart failure, he was the only one willing to transfer him, despite how risky it seemed.
"I kept my truth silent"
Over the years, Schiter kept silent about certain details, but he assured that he always acted with the best intention and professionalism. "I kept my truth silent for 25 years," he confessed, referring to the difficult decisions he had to make regarding Maradona's treatment.
