Trump on Elon Musk's party: 'Let him have fun, but I find it ridiculous.'
The billionaire magnate, Elon Musk, launched a political project that threatens to favor Democratic votes
In a controversial move, businessman Elon Musk announced the creation of his own political party in the United States, under the name America Party. The announcement, made through his social network X, provoked an immediate rejection from President Donald Trump, who described the initiative as "ridiculous" and warned that it will only serve to benefit the Democratic Party.
"I think it's ridiculous to create a third party. They never work. He can have fun, but I find it ridiculous," Trump stated emphatically, making clear his discomfort with a move that threatens to divide the conservative electorate.
Trump apuntó contra Elon Musk por crear un nuevo "Partido Americano" y favorecer a los demócratas: "Creo que es ridículo crear un tercer partido. Nunca funcionaron. Que se divierta, pero me parece ridículo".
Musk, meanwhile, tried to justify his initiative with the backing of a digital poll. According to his figures, 65.4% of 1.2 million followers voted in favor of creating the party, while 34.6% were against it. Based on that informal result, he declared: "By a factor of 2 to 1, they want a new political party—and they'll have it!"
According to Musk, his new political group arises as a response to the "one-party system" that, according to him, represents both Democrats and Republicans. "Today, America Party is formed to give you back your freedom," he wrote, although he did not provide concrete details about the legal registration of the organization or its electoral strategy.

The conflict between both magnates escalated even further when President Trump published a lengthy statement on his Truth Social network, where he lashed out unfiltered against Elon Musk and questioned both his political motivations and his personal ties with figures from the Democratic Party.
"I'm saddened to see Elon Musk go completely off the rails, becoming a disaster in the last five weeks. He even wants to found a third political party, even though they've never succeeded in the United States; the system doesn't seem designed for them. Third parties only serve to create complete and total DISRUPTION and CHAOS, and we already have enough with the radical left Democrats, who've lost both trust and their minds," Trump wrote.
The Republican leader directly linked Musk's decision to create America Party with the recent approval of the historic bill that eliminates the Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate, which commercially benefited Tesla. According to Trump, the new party is an act of revenge in response to the loss of business privileges:
"It's a great bill, but unfortunately for Elon, it eliminates the ridiculous Electric Vehicle Mandate, which would've forced everyone to buy an electric car in a short time. I've strongly opposed that from the beginning. Now people can buy whatever they want: gasoline vehicles, hybrids (which are having great success), or new technologies as they emerge. The EV Mandate is over," he wrote.
Additionally, Trump revealed a previously unknown episode, in which Musk allegedly asked him to appoint his right-hand man, Jared Isaacman, as director of NASA. The president rejected the request after discovering the businessman's ideological profile: "Elon asked for one of his close friends to run NASA and, although I thought his friend was very good, I was surprised to learn he was a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat, who'd never before contributed to a Republican. Elon probably was too," he said.
He also emphasized his concern about conflicts of interest: "I found it inappropriate for a very close friend of Elon, who was in the space sector, to run NASA, when NASA is such an important part of his corporate life. My main responsibility is to protect the American public!"
Musk, who at one time was a major donor to Trump's reelection campaign and collaborated on the DOGE program (Department of Government Efficiency), now directly attacks the president's agenda.

In particular, he described the flagship bill of Trump's second term, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, as a "disgusting abomination", accusing it of containing "unnecessary spending." The criticism quickly escalated the tension: Trump replied with a direct warning, threatening to cut billions of dollars in federal subsidies that benefit Musk's companies, such as Tesla and SpaceX.
Although Musk presents America Party as a modern alternative to bipartisanship, his political platform presents a strange combination of libertarian technocracy and radical progressivism. Among his delusional proposals, the reduction of public spending on defense and security stands out, two key areas for Republican values, with the aim of modernizing the armed forces through robotics and artificial intelligence.
In energy matters, the party proposes high taxes on coal and oil, while also proposing to eliminate subsidies for renewable energies and mandate the use of electric cars, under the pretext of "combating climate change." This implies aggressive state intervention that contradicts the banners of economic freedom.
The positions on immigration policy are also openly controversial: open borders, halting deportations, and facilitating the entry of illegal immigrants. On social issues, he proposes incentives for birth rates but at the same time legalization of abortion up to the third month, revealing an ambiguous and contradictory agenda.
Even more concerning for defenders of the Constitution is his stance on the right to bear arms. Musk promotes strict regulation of assault rifles, with special permits subject to psychological evaluations, directly challenging the Second Amendment.
