Trump orders the removal of Harris's Secret Service protection privilege

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, withdrew the privilege of Secret Service protection from former Vice President Kamala Harris this Thursday. The presidential directive orders the agency to suspend all security procedures for Harris, beyond those required by law, effective September 1.

The news was confirmed by Harris's spokesperson this morning to Fox News. A senior White House official also confirmed the measure through an email sent to the press.

The measure is part of Trump's policy of cutting unnecessary expenses or those that represent a dispensable tax burden for the American taxpayer. Under this philosophy, several former officials from the last Democratic presidency have seen their security privileges stripped away.

Harris's protection had been secretly extended by Biden.

Generally, former vice presidents enjoy six months of protection after leaving office, but security for the former Democratic candidate was extended by Biden beyond these traditional months.

Biden also  made this decision in secret, having signed it before the now former president left office in January of this year. The resolution that extended protection to Harris was only released today.

Since she lost the election last November, Harris has declined to run as a candidate to become the new governor of California and has devoted her time to promoting her new autobiography titled 107 Days.

The book is scheduled to be released next month and the former vice president will embark on a national tour to promote it, amid rumors that, given her unpopularity among the electorate, her role in the Democratic Party in the future will be merely testimonial.
