Trump was thanked for his Nobel Peace Prize nomination for his mediation in the Middle East.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed gratitude for the Nobel Peace Prize nomination sent by the families of Hamas hostages in Gaza, who acknowledged his role in mediating the release of 39 captives and advancing toward a peace agreement in the region.

In a letter addressed to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, the president expressed his "most sincere gratitude" and renewed his commitment to ending the conflict in Gaza and ensuring the defeat of the terrorist group Hamas.

"Melania and I send our most sincere gratitude to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum for your nomination letter to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee", wrote the president.

Trump described the October 7, 2023, attacks as "abominable" and stated that his administration is working on a comprehensive plan for the release of all hostages and the "total destruction of Hamas" to prevent these events "from ever happening again."

International recognition for his mediation

The nomination was promoted by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, based in Tel Aviv, which brings together the families of the victims of the Hamas attack. In their letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, they highlighted Trump's "decisive mediation" in reaching the first ceasefire agreements and securing the release of dozens of kidnapped individuals.

"Since his inauguration, President Trump has brought light to our darkest times", the families stated. "His commitment has enabled the return of dozens of our loved ones and has given hope to those still awaiting their return."

The Republican president, who returned to the White House in January 2025, has maintained an active role in peace negotiations between Israel and international mediators from Egypt and Qatar, achieving concrete progress in reducing the conflict and strengthening regional cooperation.

Commitment to peace and global security

Trump reiterated that his administration remains "firmly committed to ending the war and the waves of antisemitism both at home and abroad". In his letter, he also called for unity and hope, highlighting the shared values between the United States and Israel.

"May God bless you and your loved ones, and may He continue to bless the United States and the State of Israel, as we pray for this conflict to come to an end soon", the president concluded.

The correspondence became public in the context of the commemorations marking two years since the Hamas attack, where thousands of Israelis participated in vigils and events in memory of the victims.

Trump received praise from various international organizations for his role as a mediator and his "peace through strength" approach, a strategy aimed at ensuring stability in the Middle East through cooperation and the defense of human rights.

Expectation for the Nobel Prize

Although the Nobel Peace Prize nomination has not yet been officially confirmed by the Norwegian Committee, the news caused a strong political and media impact. In Washington and Jerusalem, analysts emphasize that the recognition could consolidate Trump's international leadership in his new term, especially due to his role in restoring dialogue in one of the world's most conflict-ridden regions.

The official announcement of the awardees will take place next Friday in Oslo. If confirmed, it would be the first time a U.S. president receives the nomination for direct mediation in the Middle East since the Abraham Accords in 2020, also promoted by Trump during his first term.
