The country's highest civilian distinction will be awarded to the late leader in a ceremony that will take place in less than a week
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, will posthumously award the Medal of Freedom to Charlie Kirk at an event that will take place on October 14, which would have been the conservative commentator's 32nd birthday.
The American president had already announced on September 21 at the event held to honor Kirk's memory that he would award him the Medal of Freedom. "I am pleased to announce that I will soon award Charlie Kirk, posthumously, the Presidential Medal of Freedom!" Trump declared at that time.
Sources close to CNN commented that the ceremony for awarding the highest civilian distinction in the United States will be held on October 14. Kirk was murdered on the campus of Utah Valley University on September 10 by a left-wing terrorist who faces the death penalty if convicted.

Kirk's memory lives on among students
That same September 11, after the terrifying images of Kirk being shot on the university campus became known, Trump said that Charlie "was a giant of his generation, a champion of freedom, and an inspiration to millions and millions of people", achievements that justified awarding him such an important civilian distinction.
His killer, a young member of the left-wing terrorist group Antifa named Tyler Robinson, was arrested just hours after the leader was declared dead at a local hospital. Robinson lived with a 21-year-old transgender activist for former president Joe Biden whose name is Lance Twiggs.
Kirk founded Turning Point USA, one of the largest nonprofit political activism organizations in the country. Since his death, there have been more than 120,000 inquiries to create TPUSA groups across the country on university campuses,
This phenomenon is not limited to universities, as requests to create Club America groups (a TPUSA affiliate that operates exclusively in high schools) have more than doubled in the past month. As of October 7, there are 2,700 Club America groups across the US, more than double the 1,200 that had been formed before Kirk's murder.
