Three months after beginning his second term, President Trump reached the highest approval rating of his career as commander in chief, while more Americans believe the country is on the right track than at any time since 2004, according to a new poll.
Despite this good news, the president still aims to achieve the approval of the majority of Americans. 54% of respondents do not fully approve of his handling of the economy, which represents the paradigm shift that occurred during the Biden administration, where Americans developed a much more short-term view.
However, the poll reveals that voters in general feel that Trump is bringing "the right kind of change" on key issues, including tariffs. This comes even after last week's stock market drop, amid Wall Street's concern over the decision to impose tariffs of 25% on Canada and Mexico and 20% on China.

Trump's border policies were the most popular, with 56% support, while 47% approved of his government cuts, compared to a mere 29% who disagreed.
Even in his handling of the war in Ukraine and NATO, two areas that have received strong opposition from the more leftist sectors, more respondents supported his policies (41%) than criticized them (40%).
Regarding inflation, the poll also shows that voters are approving of Trump's measures. 40% think his policies are having a positive effect, compared to 30% who believe they are having a negative impact, while 28% think there are no significant changes.

The poll also highlights the enormous political division in the country. Trump's approval is 90% among Republicans, while among Democrats it is only 4%, marking the largest gap in approval ratings between a president and the opposition in the last 80 years.
In general terms, 47% of voters approve of Trump, compared to 51% who disapprove or did not give an absolute response, representing his highest rating in the polls. Trump previously reached 47% in early 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, and in October 2018.
This increase in Trump's approval is also reflected in other polls, which show an average approval of 48.2%.
Another positive point for Trump is that 44% of registered voters believe the country is on the right track, the highest figure in two decades. Although not entirely optimistic, this number represents the most positive change since George W. Bush's presidency, 20 years ago.
