In the René Favaloro Sud neighborhood, two teenage criminals were arrested after an attack in which a 14-year-old minor was injured
The incident occurred on Monday, June 13, in the René Favaloro Sud neighborhood in Córdoba, when an off-duty police officer was assaulted by four young criminals riding motorcycles. The officer ordered them to stop and drew his service weapon when the criminals threatened him in order to steal his vehicle. During the shootout, a 14-year-old minor was shot in the abdomen and was transported to the Children's Hospital in critical condition.
Following the incident, the Police launched an operation in the area to apprehend the perpetrators of the attempted robbery. The other three suspects fled the scene and remain at large, while searches are being conducted toward the southwest of Córdoba. The case is being investigated by the local prosecutor's office, which seeks to determine whether the officer's actions constitute self-defense.
Condition of the wounded criminal
The injured 14-year-old teenager was admitted in critical condition to the intensive care unit at the Children's Hospital. Official sources indicated that he sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdominal area. His prognosis remains guarded, and he is accompanied by his family at the medical center.
The case was classified as "resistance to robbery," and it will be assessed whether there was excessive use of force. The prosecutor in charge assigned the Judicial Brigade to the case and is awaiting the results of ballistic and impounded motorcycle examinations. Meanwhile, the provincial government has deployed reinforcements in the area to prevent similar incidents.
Arrest of the two minor assailants
Shortly after the incident, two of the teenagers involved in the attempted robbery were located and arrested. Both remain in police custody pending transfer to the Juvenile Court. The investigation is ongoing to clarify their exact roles, verify whether they were armed, and determine if they fired during the attack.
It was reported that the police officer did not sustain serious injuries and continues to cooperate with the investigation. Judicial authorities have already collected witness statements and are analyzing security camera footage from the area to reconstruct the sequence of the attempted assault. No details regarding formal charges have been disclosed so far.
