Unusual appointment in Santa Fe: Amalia Granata hired her husband as an advisor

The provincial deputy states she doesn't trust her surroundings, so she decided to give her husband a position

Amalia Granata was once again at the center of controversy in Santa Fe. The provincial deputy and candidate for constitutional convention confirmed that her husband, Leonardo Squarzon, was appointed as part of her advisory team in the Santa Fe Legislature, a decision that caused surprise and criticism in the political sphere.

During a television interview, the legislator explained the reasons that led her to hire her partner in a formal role within her space. Far from avoiding the controversy, Granata defended her decision with a strong argument:  "I don't trust anyone", she stated.

The revelation occurred on the Puroshow program, where Granata referred to Squarzon as "my Karino", as she calls him in private, and confirmed that he holds one of the five advisory positions she has available as a legislator.

According to her explanation, the main reason for her decision was the loss of trust in other PRO collaborators. Granata recalled that two deputies who belonged to her political space left her bloc amid internal disputes, leaving her without direct allies in the Legislature.

"They bought two deputies and I was left alone. I don't trust anyone. I'm the only real opposition in the province", she stated to justify why she turned to someone from her closest circle.

What role does Leonardo Squarzon play in the Santa Fe Legislature?

Beyond his incorporation as an advisor, Squarzon—who also maintains private activities related to the gastronomic and business sector—would also fulfill other functions within Granata's team.

"I told him I need him. They know him more in the Legislature than me", the deputy revealed about her husband's daily life in the legislative corridors. She even detailed that on several occasions Squarzon acts as her personal driver and accompanies her to various political activities.

The appointment drew attention not only because he is her partner but also because the man has no previous experience in the legislative field. Despite this, the former model insisted that his presence is due to a matter of absolute trust.

The hiring of Leonardo Squarzon as a legislative advisor reignited the debate about the use of public positions in Argentine politics, especially in a context where the need for greater transparency and meritocracy in appointments is strongly discussed.
